This weekend’s honored guest is SFC Tim Senkowski, United States Army. Dell Hamilton, Co-Founder of Support Military Foundation and NASCAR team owner is excited to share in the experience. “To have a Hero join us at the track is a honor and I can’t wait to see the smile on Tim’s face. Our whole team is excited about having Tim and his family with us.” New York Warrior Alliance (NYWA) is our launching sponsor for the initial “Hero Behind the Camo” race day event and Amy Tausch, NYWA Founder, has personally selected SFC Senkowski, who is an Indiana native, after meeting him and his Mother at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, (WRNMMC) Bethesda, MD last November. SFC Senkowski is a huge NASCAR fan and his step-father is going to surprise him with his sponsored credentials and organized a reunion with his battle buddies who will join him at the track.
SFC Senkowski was stationed out of Ft. Drum, NY with the 10th Mountain Division 3-71 Calvary, A-TRP where he embarked on his first deployment to Operation Enduring Freedom (OIF), Afghanistan. On October 13, 2011 Tim sustained serious injuries from an IED blast that also took the life of his battle buddy. Tim lost both legs above the knee, his left backside and a right arm limb salvage, resulting in minimal use of his arm and loss of left hearing. Tim’s injuries also include TBI and PTSD. During many of his surgeries Tim sustained attributed injuries to his left arm.
Tim’s support system includes his two boys (his oldest is Autistic), his beautiful wife, Erica and Tim’s mother and step-father. Tim and his family are faced with additional challenges due to Erica’s medical condition. She is also disabled, at times in a wheelchair and is visually impaired. Tim and his family have lived with his mother and step-father for the past 7 years and are instrumental in providing support for his wife and oldest son. Due to the additional challenges of Tim’s medical treatment plan, Tim’s mom and youngest son lived at WRNMMC, Bethesda until Tim’s recent discharged. Tim and his family will remain in Indiana with his parents until his new home construction is complete.
Founder, Support Military Foundation, Col. Steve (Chappy) West, USAF is happy to see this program finally come to fruition. “Steve Quote” Our “Hero” SFC Tim Senkowski will be available to the media on Saturday, July 27th most of the day. Co-Founder and NASCAR Team Owner Dell Hamilton will be available all weekend.
